Carting you around on bikes, yours, or lugged by us is a gift to you two jewels.
Sure, getting from A to Z is ‘easier’, ‘faster’ by car,
but then you wouldn’t get to pick leaf after leaf
feel leaves raining down on your innocent heads
you’d not get to pet the neighbourhood kittens and
puppies.
We gift you with a life immersed in the elements
because that is how you were born
you came out free and singing
we gift you with bike culture, and walking culture and running culture because we want you to celebrate your little legs and the huge beauty that is your body, your limbs, your courageous toes, all of you that runs along the sidewalks on rainy days, joyful, singing.
We feel that joy, that song too, often on bike.

Beautifully written. I love that my kids, now young adults, still like to bike in Toronto. A gift they will pass on to their children.
Thanks so very much Diana. I see it like you, a gift that keeps on being given generation after generation.
I appreciate it immensely that you took the time to connect with me.
